Jack o’lanterns

October 31, 2008

Here are the two jack o’lanterns we created last night… I felt bad for taking all the kids’ fun away, but it was just too messy, the knives were too sharp, they had just had a bath, and the last thing I felt like doing was to clean up a big mess.

I bought these two big (in my book) pumpkins from Cox Farms… they were bigger and more expensive than I hoped. I guess that’s what we get for waiting so long to get them.

While I’m on the topic, I don’t understand the concern over candles in pumpkins… (for example, Safe Candle Pumpkin Light) Sure if you don’t have candles little kids won’t catch on fire… but what parents are encouraging their kids to stick flamable items into a lit pumpkin?!?!? That’s like blaming a fireplace because you got too close with your gasoline doused rag and caught fire! Well, enough soapbox. Suffice to say, if you’re trick-or-treating by our house, be prepared – we’re using candles!!

Nicholas’ 2nd Birthday Party

October 28, 2008

This past weekend, we threw a birthday party for Nicholas.  He turned 2.  It was held at Chuck-E-Cheeze in Herndon, and we invited close friends and family.  I’m experimenting with various photo sharing options, so check out the following:
