My “Super Bowl Party”

February 6, 2007

As the Bears were losing to the Colts, I spent the bulk of the evening in the ER at the local hospital.  The pain had intensified, so I was done waiting for the results of my labwork.  My dad drove me to the hospital, and after running a bunch of tests, it was confirmed that I have above average levels of uric acid in my blood — an indicator that it might be gout.

As I entered the ER, the pain level was a good 5 or 6…  while I was waiting for my Doc to come back with the test results… that pain level hit a solid 8!  maybe a borderline 9!  A pain reliever and anti-inflamatory drug brought me back down to a 6 or 7… and I was released after being given some prescriptions.

It’s improved now, but I still can’t put much weight on my foot…

p.s. Colts 29 - Bears 17 — and Prince was AWESOME!!

My foot is killing me!

February 4, 2007

My foot really hurts! My foot looks a little swolen and is really tender to the touch.  I thought it was a sprained ankle, but my mom thinks it’s gout. Went to the doctor this afternoon to get it checked out. They’re running some tests to see, so I’ll know more in a few days.

If this IS gout, then gout sucks!

Lauren recognizes letters now

February 4, 2007

I don’t know if it’s normal or if she’s a little advanced… but tonight Lauren demonstrated to us that she can recognize specific letters. We were playing an online game at SesameStreet.com where Big Bird holds up a letter and you have to find the items that begin with that letter. She was 100% accurate in telling me what the various letters were… not quite 50% when it came to telling me which of the objects started with that letter.

What? Aren’t 2 year olds supposed to be able to read by now?
